The Late Ben Cartwright

Air Date: March 3, 1968

Written by: Walter Black

Directed by: Leon Benson

Guest Stars: David Canary (Candy Canaday), Sidney Blackmer (Samuel Endicott), Bert Freed (Broom), William Campbell (Wilburn White)

In order to ruin the plans of a corrupt politician, Ben allows everyone to think that he’s dead.

Trivia: This was Sidney Blackmer’s second and final appearance in the series. He won Broadway’s 1950 Tony Award as Best Actor (Dramatic) for Come Back, Little Sheba. While he portrayed Republican President Theodore Roosevelt more times than any actor on screen (eight in all), he himself noted that he was, ironically, a Democrat.
