This month, our spotlight will shine on Harper!

Harper has been writing Bonanza fanfic for more than four years.  Her stories, which often focus on the years shortly before the series begins, are a wonderful medley of drama, humor, and classic Cartwright attitudes and values.  Her devotion to historical research reveals itself in a myriad of details that make ranch life as vivid as the reader’s own backyard.

Our spotlight story for this month is the classic Holdin’ the Cut, in which Adam returns from college to find that life on the Ponderosa presents many unexpected challenges.  One of the biggest struggles he faces is reconnecting with ten-year-old Little Joe, who has also changed and grown during their time apart. 

So, head on over the library and enjoy this excellent story of two brothers rediscovering each other.  Then come into the VCLS to ask Harper about it and get your badge!

Our Spotlight Author for the month of May is dbird!  A prolific Bonanza author, she has written at least fifty-six marvelous stories about the Cartwrights.  She has long been one of the most popular Bonanza fanfic authors on the web, and we are delighted to have her as this month’s Spotlight Author. 

Come over to the VCLS, where we’re talking about one of dbird’s earlier stories, Cold.  Cold is a “What Happens Next?’ for the aired episode, My Brother’s Keeper.  Caught in a blizzard, Adam and Joe are forced to confront the rift that has grown between them since the incident at Montpelier Gorge.  This is your chance to ask dbird all about this marvelous story!
